Epsom Decorative and Fine Arts Society (EDFAS)

EDFAS is a member of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies.

What is NADFAS?

Founded in 1968 it is a world wide organization based on a love of the Arts in all its forms. It has as its objectives the promotion and advancement of the aesthetic education of the public, - the cultivation, appreciation of the decorative and fine arts, - and the giving of aid to the preservation of our national artistic heritage for the benefit of the public. However it also gives members enormous pleasure and fun.

Founded in 1989, EDFAS meets monthly except August for lectures on a wide range of topics from Peruvian Textiles, to English ceramics. These lectures are given by experienced and highly qualified lecturers who are experts in their chosen field. Lectures are for members only but guests may attend at the invitation of a member.

The Society organizes visits to art galleries, museums and places of historic and artistic interest. In recent years short holidays both abroad and at home have been arranged using specialist travel agents.

Special Interest Days are also arranged in which a subject is studied in greater depth.

Within EDFAS groups such as Church Recorders are currently working on Christchurch in Epsom, and Heritage Volunteers are involved in making costumes for Polesden Lacey.

EDFAS meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Epsom Playhouse.
The lectures commence at 10.30am and the doors open at 10am.
